Alternosfera in the house

We welcomed Alternosfera into the studio with an excess of enthusiasm and thankfully the delight came from both sides. We enjoyed the war anthems’ resonance and they found the perfect location for inspiration, acoustics and a future album. But let us share the whole story..

Alternosfera is an alternative rock band that has been delighting music lovers since December 13, 1998, when they started their activity for the first time in Chisinau. The band has released 6 albums and an Extended play, its composition including Marcel Bostan (vocals, keyboards), Marin Nicoară (guitar, keyboards), Sergiu Aladin (guitar), Dumitru Costin (bass) and Nickel Russu (drums). 

Alternosfera practices melodic alternative metal, with the keyboard “carrying” the whole tune. Their lyrics are often about love, but also have social or political connotations. “Alternosfera comes up with a formula of melodic composition filled with violent guitar distortions over which a tacit Romanian language is sprinkled”, says Bogdan Șerban, Top Show Radio Guerrilla producer.

Marcel’s voice is rich in inflections, with a developed and practiced lyrical line, as well as the power to “climb” a lot. Their specific melodicity is also given by the fact that most of the pieces have classical piano leads.

So you can imagine how happy we were when the band expressed a desire to practice and record in the Mellowdy Studios. Especially when we heard the opinion of Marcel, the band’s lead singer. 

“We moved to Sibiu a year ago, and for us it was a big question where we will continue to work, where we will continue to shoot our songs. And fortunately in Sibiu, more recently in the town of Cisnădie, a new studio, Mellowdy Studios, has opened. A location that has just been completed. We were deeply surprised by the acoustic space and the team we got to know. I think 2 weeks after we got acquainted, we did our first sessions in this location. One of the best acoustic spaces I’ve worked in my 20 years of music experience. The space is very compact, it’s well thought out, calculated and executed, it has all the technical aspects.

Certainly this studio has capacity and great potential for growth. The man behind the studio is also very important. We had the great honor to meet Thomas, a mega open person, dedicated to everything quality. Atmosphere is a very important thing. We have now made the decision that we will continue to work in this location completing our next album.

What I’m saying is that if you have the opportunity, the chance to work in this wonderful acoustic space, you’re going to have exactly what other bands who improvise spaces at home don’t have. It’s worth it! Our experience was exceptional, and we look forward to repeating it in the future. We highly recommend Mellowdy Studios and thank them from the bottom of our hearts for hosting us.”
